1911 Established: Local Ciders and Spirits
If there was ever any doubt about the heritage of this distillery, one only needs to take a look at their name: 1911 Established.
As the name implies, it was founded in 1911–which means their roots go all the way back to the pre-prohibition era and is inextricably linked to the history of Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards. The latter, founded by two apple farmers, George Skiff and Porter Beak has a simple, albeit ambitious–goal: to grow the finest apples in New York State. Their vision ultimately flourished to become one of the most prominent orchards in Lafayette New York. And through the years, the expertise and experience required to grow and harvest the best apples in the region got passed down generation after generation.
In the early 2000s, with the fifth generation already at the reins, a new idea was born: transforming their beautifully grown apples into exceptionally crafted spirits.
Craft spirits is an incredible art unto itself, and guided by the same attention to quality, respect for tradition, and eye for innovation that drove Beak & Skiff Orchard’s success, they built 1911 Established. It felt like a natural progression for Beak & Skiff, who managed to fuse their understanding of apple cultivation with modern distillation techniques that remained deeply reflective of the orchard’s heritage.
Today, 1911 Distillery is celebrated as a pioneer in the craft spirits industry, offering a range of products that include vodka, gin, whiskey, and hard cider. Each one is made with the same care and attention to detail that has defined Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards for over a century, with every sip telling the rich history and legacy behind it.
A Look Through 1911 Distillery’s Trail of Innovation
What began as an extension of Beak & Skiff Apple Orchard has grown into a thriving brand with an impressive lineup of classic spirits. The distillery's journey started with the creation of classic spirits like vodka and gin, distilled from the very apples that have made Beak & Skiff famous. These early products set the standard for what 1911 Distillery would become known for: high-quality, locally sourced, and meticulously crafted spirits.
As the craft spirits movement gained momentum, 1911 Established saw an opportunity to innovate and further expanded their offerings. Today, the distillery’s portfolio is as diverse as it is impressive, featuring not only their signature spirits but also an incredible selection of hard ciders, each with its own unique character. From the crisp and refreshing flavors of their original ciders to the more adventurous options like their
Black Cherry Cider
and
Maple Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cider
, 1911 has proven time and again that they are not afraid to push the boundaries of what can be done with apples.
Their understanding of what consumers want from the brand also led to the introduction of ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages, that offer the convenience of expertly crafted cocktails in a can. These RTDs have allowed the distillery to reach new audiences, further solidifying their reputation as a forward-thinking brand that inherently understands their customers and readily evolves to meet their needs.
1911 Established Catalog
1911 Distillery takes pride in turning their homegrown New York apples into their best-selling ciders. The finish is smooth and slightly dry, with lingering cherry notes.
1911 Rose Hard Cider

1911 Cotton Candy Cider starts with the distillery’s signature base of fresh-pressed apples sourced from Beak & Skiff orchards. The cider is fermented and then infused with natural flavors that mimic the light, sweet taste of cotton candy.
